- Abstract
This letter, published in the Neurosurgical Review, discusses the importance of conducting a neurological examination of patients in the recovery room after spinal surgery to identify potential complications early. The authors describe a case of a 64-year-old female patient who developed a drop foot shortly after surgery due to an epidural hematoma. The patient underwent open exploration to evacuate the hematoma and experienced improved muscle strength by the first postoperative day. The authors emphasize the need for extended clinical monitoring in the recovery room to detect postoperative spinal epidural hematomas.
