- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of socio-technical infrastructure in the development and functioning of learning health systems (LHSs). LHSs are unique approaches to health improvement that involve multi-stakeholder learning communities, a rigorous discovery process, and a socio-technical infrastructure to support multiple improvement cycles. The article describes 10 interconnected socio-technical services that make up LHS infrastructure, including services for learning communities, measuring performance, analyzing data, accessing external knowledge, and delivering knowledge-directed interventions. The authors suggest that viewing LHS infrastructure in terms of these services could promote the sharing and adoption of LHS methods.
