- Abstract
The article focuses on a holistic approach adopted by the Cancer Treatment Centers of America's Midwestern Regional Center in Zion, Illinois, to address patients' nutritional needs. The canter uses the approach to care patients for improving their nutritional status prior to treatment. A nurse assesses each patient by interviewing him or her as part of the daily rounds and also performs laboratory work as ordered by the physician. The goal is to build up patients in hopes of improving the treatment outcome and their quality of life. The nutrition department is quite well established and important to the patients.
