- Abstract
The article reports that Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) extends its reach in advocacy and health policy through ONS members, coalitions, and outside advisors. In January 2003-at the opening of the first session of the 108th Congress, ONS initiated a new program called the "Capitol Gang." The ONS Capitol Gang is a small group of members who reside in the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and surrounding cities with ready access to the Capitol. These members have kindly volunteered their time and expertise to serve as a local resource for ONS's health policy associates. ONS also leverages its resources by joining forces with others in the nursing and cancer communities to advocate issues of mutual interest and priority.
