- Abstract
The artistic trends and styles that emerged in Europe in the late 1890s were the core of modern art. Between 1900 and 1910, radical changes took place with different interpretations in every branch of art. Among the most important of these trends and styles are new impressionism, fauvism, cubism, abstract painting, futurism, expressionism, suprematism, constructivism, dadism, surrealism, social realism, pop art, minimal art, conceptual art. Each art movement is kneaded together with the current which is the previous or the contemporary. Individuals have set out to create lasting trails through art, and innovations have set out to create changes. Despite their different attitudes and forms of expression, the common point of all contemporary artists has been the desire to express the emotional reaction to the changing circumstances of the 20th century's life. In order to develop the production and interpretation skills that arise in this perception process, Basic Design Education has a distinct value in the general education system. The aim of this study is to examine the application skills and perceptions of the Basic Design course given in the first grade at the Faculty of Fine Arts with the conceptual process in the light of the 20th century art movements and to see the effects on the new practices, concepts and intellectual grounds with different themes. 20th century art, which provides intellectual and semantic themes in art, leads to new quests in art education. The aim of the Basic Design education is to be a student of Fine Arts Faculty, to be "self", to reach awareness consciousness, to find his creative self, to restructure it productively and versatile and to produce original works at aesthetic level. Examples of conceptual collage work in Basic Design education are given. The examples of the study are collage applications realized within the scope of Basic Design course 1st Term Final Project by students of Painting Department of Uşak University Fine Arts Faculty during 2015-2016 education period.
