Paxhia, Steve
- Abstract
The article discusses the latest trends in publishing strategies with the use of Web technologies. It notes the new service offered by Hewlett Packard Co. (HP), the beta MagCloud publishing service, which offers opportunities to produce print editions of print on demand (POD) solutions at cost efficient outputs up to 2,500 copies unlike the traditional overhead of long press runs and inapt distribution channels. Along with HP, companies like Lulu.com and Lighting Source allow writers or small book publishers to create and promote books through web-based technology. It concludes on the advantage of this new trend for publishers and how it gives a new era of innovative publications.
