- Title
It Takes a Hui to Raise a Child: A Case for Peer-to-Peer Support for Child Abuse Prevention.
- Authors
Urosevich, Kerrie
- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of the peer-to-peer, community-based family support frameworks in preventing child abuse and neglect in the U.S. A major component of these frameworks is the maximization of parents in raising children and connecting the effort to community resources, which is reflected in the services provided by the Hawaiian organization Family Hui. The categories of risk factors for child abuse issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are discussed.
