- Abstract
Geodiversity seeks to describe, through identification and quantification methodologies, the abiotic elements present in the landscape and how these elements interact with the biotic environment and society through existing appropriations. The objective of the work was to calculate the geodiversity index of CELMM. The methodology used was divided into 5 stages: spatial definitions, bibliographic and cartographic survey, data processing, definition of indexes and interpolation / classification of results. The variables of geology, geomorphology, hydrography, pedology and mineral were used for the calculation of the partial indexes, used later for the calculation of the geodiversity index, being divided into 5 classes. As a result, its values were more heterogeneous, concentrated in specific areas. The geodiversity index was higher in wide areas of floodplains bordered by steeply dissected steep slopes. These values are justified by morphodynamic and pedological processes, exhuming and shaping local lithology. In the other grids, being more homogeneous with little dynamics, they presented lower values. In general, CELMM showed medium geodiversity, with higher values and higher concentration in APAs, also occurring in other unprotected areas. The methodology proved to be promising, reaching the general objective. Through geoprocessing techniques and an existing database of geodiversity elements, it was possible to create IG thematic maps of CELMM. This study aims to subsidize the Public Power to create or re-discuss zoning and plans for management. This study represents the continuation of discussions on the geodiversity of Alagoas in its East center portion.
