- Abstract
This article discusses a case of primary cutaneous nocardiosis in a 21-month-old boy who presented with a painful nodule on his nose. The infection was caused by Nocardia brasiliensis, a gram-positive bacteria commonly found in tropical or subtropical climates. The diagnosis was confirmed through laboratory findings, including microscopy and gene sequencing. The patient was treated with intravenous ceftriaxone sodium followed by oral trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole for three months, and the lesions completely resolved. The article emphasizes the importance of accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and close follow-up to prevent recurrence of the disease.
