- Abstract
The article discusses several strategies for preservation and increased access to newspapers in Nigerian University libraries. According to the article, the New York Department of Taxation and Finance states that a newspaper must be published in printed or written form daily or weekly, it must not contain a book, it must be available for public circulation, and it must contain general interest and current events topics. The newspapers' importance to scholars, students, and academic libraries is explored. Several strategies for preserving and increasing access to newspapers including storage on microfilm, digitization to be accessed online, the creation of a database of Nigerian newspapers and abstracting and indexing services.
