- Abstract
This document provides a summary of research on the relationship between prescription drug abuse (PDA) and intimate partner violence (IPV) among women. It notes that substance abuse, including the misuse of prescription drugs, has been on the rise in recent years. The document emphasizes that IPV is a global public health issue with various physical and mental health consequences, including substance abuse. However, there is a lack of research directly comparing rates of PDA between women with and without IPV. The document calls for further research to better understand this relationship and develop effective interventions for mental health in IPV survivors.
