- Abstract
The author reports on the place in which variance controls play in an organization. Comparisons are made in the article regarding the way in which different types of controls, such as traditional control and variant control systems are viewed in an organization. The place in which controlling, maintaining and measuring organizational performance has in achieving an organization's goals is discussed. Criticism which has been raised regarding control practices is mentioned. According to the article, organizations sometimes do not concern themselves with controls placed on people. The impact which this lack of concern can have on an organization is mentioned.
