- Authors
ALLEN, VALERIE; CONNOLLY, MARGARET
- Abstract
The article presents chapter Four of the book "Year's Work in English Studies" which discusses the medieval works of English poet Geoffrey Chaucer. It explores the debates between realist and nominalist about language as a focus of interest, religious tales, and the cultural history of the readers. It says that E. G. Stanley has noted some unrecorded allusions to Chaucer in an essay entitled "Chaucer at Woodstock: A Theme in English Verse of the Eighteenth Century." It mentions that the second and final volume of "A Catalogue of Chaucer Manuscripts," by M. C. Seymour has covered the manuscripts of the "Canterbury Tales."
