- Abstract
Rajasthan state is a mineral house with different kind of precious minerals, metallic minerals and non-metallic minerals, decorative and building stones like sandstone, granite, limestone, Kotastone and marble. Rajasthan possesses 1100 million tones reserves of superior quality marble in 20 out of 33 districts of the state, which are largest in the country. The marble industries are one of the most environmental unfriendly industries. Cutting the stones from gang saw produces large amount of slurry and solid waste. Usually the manufacturers dump these waste materials over the nearby waste land areas that results in adverse effect on the environment and holistic development. Since marble stone contains macro and micro nutrients so the stone slurry can be converted into value added bio fertilizers. The elementary chemical analysis of stone waste by XRF reveals that these waste materials have an immense potential for their reclamation in diverse forms like soil amendment and it could be beneficial for the proper growth of the plants.
