- Abstract
This article presents summaries of significant international environmental law cases. The International Court of Justice made a decision in a case concerning Pulp Mills on the River Uruguay in a dispute between Argentina and Uruguay concerning the effect on the aquatic environment and ecosystems of the river by the construction and operation of two mills in Uruguay. The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the rights of competing interests of the individual and of the community as a whole must be protected through a fair decision-making process in Giacomelli v. Italy. A dispute between the European Communities and three members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) over the interpretation and application of WTO law in relation to regulatory measures concerning biotech products was heard by the WTO Panel
