- Abstract
Chronic kidney disease is characterized by irreversible loss of renal function. One of the treatments is kidney transplantation. This study aims to know the feelings involved in the kidney transplantation process. Considering nursing responsible for providing patient care, considering its physiological and emotional aspects, the relevance of this study is evident. This is a qualitative, descriptive exploratory study. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. The collected data were analyzed using the content analysis technique, from which five categories emerged: Receiving the news of the need for transplantation; waiting for the transplant; receiving news from the agency available; feelings for the donor and family, and opinion about organ donation before and after transplantation. The results show that patients feel gratitude and empathy for the donor family.
