- Abstract
This article aims to recover the process of incorporation of the notion of competences in Brazilian education, from the reforms carried out in the 1990s, analytically exposing its foundations and inconsistencies, considering its current recovery by the curricular policies resulting from Law n. 13,415/2017 and related regulations. It is argued that, as of 2014, international organizations, local governments and non-governmental organizations build an agenda aimed at the incorporation of socio-emotional skills in education. Then, the extrapolation of this notion, previously constructed in the cognitive domain, to the socioemotional domain is explained, demonstrating that this proposition has an epistemic matrix distinct from the original formulation. The analytical path leads to the conclusion about the intensification of theoretical and practical incongruities, with ethical commitments even more serious in the contemporary moment.
