This article presents information on the development of radio frequency and microwave analyzers with superheterodyne architecture. It discusses the Rigol DSA series of spectrum analyzers from Rigol Technologies, the 3-GHz GSP-9300 spectrum analyzer from test and measurement product manufacturer GW Instek, the drawbacks of homodyne architecture in analyzers and the selection of immediate frequency for superheterodyne analyzers.
