- Abstract
The article discusses a study that evaluated airborne transport routes and transport times for patients with acute aortic dissection (AAD) by analyzing the logs of 3,750 helicopter transport missions. The results indicate that the time efficiency of the transport, or time required per kilometer of transport distance, is better for longer transport distances. Time delays from confirmation of diagnosis to surgical repair are said to correlate directly with increased mortality in AAD.
