- Abstract
Berejiklian bows out The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)'s Operation Keppel is investigating allegations of corrupt conduct against former MP for Wagga, Daryl Maguire, who was from 2015 to 2020 in a close personal relationship with Treasurer then Premier Gladys Berejiklian. In contrast to the three previous Liberal premiers since 2011, who tended to be moderate in their views, Perrottet is a conservative Catholic. Berejiklian could not resist hitting back at ICAC: My resignation as Premier could not happen at a worse time, but the timing is completely outside of my control as the ICAC has chosen to take this action during the most challenging weeks of the most challenging times in the history of New South Wales (https://www.9news.com.au/national/nsw-premier-gladys-berejiklian-resigns-full-statement/c5c41b50-7909-4569-8db8-8fff705abbb0). Witnesses examined included former Premier Mike Baird, Deputy Premier John Barilaro, and former Sports Minister Stuart Ayres, now Liberal Party Deputy Leader.
