- Abstract
The present publication "Napoleonic French Military Uniforms 1798 to 1814" presents a series of hand-colored lithographs, first published in 1822. The illustrations are by the artists Horace Vernet, Carle Vernet, and Eugène Lami, who were contemporaries of the Napoleonic Wars. The images not only depict uniforms but also scenes from military everyday life. The publication also includes accompanying text that provides information on the organizational history of the units shown and their uniform development. The images are from the Anne S. K. Brown Military Collection at Brown University. The publication provides an overview of the uniforming of the French army during the Napoleonic era.
