- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of Chinese coins on traditional Native American arts in the Columbia River Plateau and Northwest Coast. Topics include the coins were primarily used as ornaments, including pendants, and occasionally layered over leather as battle armor; Chinese coins have been found in burials and excavations dating from 1800 to 1910; and most of the coins used were from the Qing dynasty, which ruled China from the mid-1600s to the early 1900s.
