- Title
La mediatización del sonido y la vida musical.
- Authors
Luis Fernández, José
- Abstract
The article examines the evolution of the distribution of recorded and broadcast music through various media, from the invention of the phonograph in 1877 to the influence of digital and Internet-based technologies in the early 21st century, based on social semiotics theory. It notes that the development of recording and radio broadcast technology had the effect of separating the listener from the source of the music for the first time and gave rise to genres of popular music that had not existed before. The article also comments on the Internet-based person-to-person music recommendation service Last.fm.
