BTV-8 expands its range in England and Europe.
- Abstract
The article reports that the Great Britain Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has confirmed another case of bluetongue in the New Forest, England. According to DEFRA, the infected animals were found as a result of premovement testing required to move animals out of restricted zones during the vector-free period, which ended on March 15, 2008. Serotype 8 of the bluetongue virus has been found in Italy for the first time.
