Animal Welfare Bill granted second reading.
- Abstract
The article reports that the Animal Welfare Bill has been granted a second reading in the House of Commons in Great Britain on January 10, 2006. The Secretary of State Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs Margaret Beckett has introduced the bill and called it the most significant and comprehensive proposal for animal welfare legislation. According to Beckett, the government believes that flexibility is critical if the legislation is to keep pace with animal welfare.
