The author comments on an article by Doctor Bradley Young on using motor learning principles in coaching pace skill in distance running. He commends the utilization of motor learning literature in tackling the disadvantages of random protocol by Young. He believes that pace is more complex entity and that tempo is a uni-dimensional construct that has great subjective component. He stresses the significance of experiments on the effective application of sport science.
