- Abstract
This paper investigates the effects of variation in geometrical dimensions of cross section of a thin- walled mono-symmetric I-shaped beam on its dynamic stability. The beam was subjected to a two separate periodic concentrated moments at its ends and the results were of dynamic stability were plotted as the dynamic buckling moment ratio versus frequency ratio. The equation of motion was derived by taking into account the virtual work principle, linear elasticity, and Vlasov beam theory. A uniform or asymmetric bending moment was applied on the beam end, which are the dominant loading types for the beams. A numerical approximation based on the sinusoidal series was suggested to estimate the first dynamic stability regions of the samples.
