- Authors
Cunningham, Jerimy J.
- Abstract
The article discusses archaeological research into the decoration of ceramics from the Inland Niger Delta (IND) of Mali, as well as aspects of ethnicity and political economy in the research. The author discusses a Master's degree project in archeology directed by Michael Spence at the University of Western Ontario, in which the author addresses the relationship between ethnoarchaeologoy and archaeology, as well as the author's analysis of variability in decorations from the Van Bree archaeological site in the area. A discussion of the New Archaeology method is also presented, which the author suggests is characterized by positivist epistemology.
