- Title
Evaluate the Extent and Impact of the Erasure of Female Agency in the Historiography of the ‘Wild West’ .
- Authors
Armstrong, Cate
- Abstract
The article examines the erasure of female agency in the historiography of the 'Wild West' and its impact on the historical record and American national identity. It argues that the dominant male narrative has led to the omission of women's contributions, particularly those of prostitutes, resulting in a distorted and phallocentric historical narrative. It also mentions the challenges faced by women's history and the need to challenge gender norms in order to give voice to marginalized groups.
