Title
Oil on troubled waters.
Abstract
The article discusses the liabilities of the BP petroleum company for the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. U.S. district judge Carl Barbier has assigned responsibility to the company for the environmental disaster along with rig owner Transocean and civil contractor Halliburton. BP president Steven Newman contends that the Macondo well spilled less oil than publicized and plans to appeal the ruling.
