- Abstract
The article discusses the globalization of corruption and the role that civil society plays in preventing corruption, from 1990 through the early 2010s. An overview of the civil society organization (CSO) Transparency International's efforts to prevent corrupt practices, including in regard to efforts towards the prevention of political and business corruption, is provided. The World Bank's perspective on corruption, including in regard to the costs of corruption, is discussed. An overview of bribes paid by foreign companies is also provided.
