- Abstract
In this article, I describe a lesson that I teach to preservice teachers and which they have taught to third-grade students. Formative assessment practices are used throughout the lesson to guide the teacher in helping the students understand the concepts being taught. Each preservice teacher worked individually with a group of four students in several third-grade classrooms for 45 minutes.
