Global cotton prices to rise 8% in FY09 on rising demand.
- Abstract
The article forecasts that the prices of cotton will increase by more than eight percent in the global market in 2008-2009. In 2006-2007, prices of cotton were recorded at 59.15 cents per pound. With the projected increase, prices of cotton is estimated to reach 80 cents per pound. The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) says that the possible price increase is associated with the price trend in other crops such as corn, soybeans and wheat. ICAC adds that the production of cotton will likely increase by 3.2 percent.
