- Title
ECOLABELS: The Rubber Stamp of Seafood Sustainability?
- Authors
Stoner, Jenna M. S.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on ecolabelling and examines the impact of seafood ecolabels on fisheries management and on its supply and demand. Ecolabelling emerged from the necessity to produce more fish to meet the growing demand which first became popular in the 1990s through the "Dolphin Safe" label and the international certification label by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The article also describes fisheries management as the handling of peoples' connection with fish resources.
