- Abstract
Objective: to identify the behavioral profile of older people with Hiv/aids. Method: descriptive, cross-sectional epidemiological study of a quantitative approach with 46 elderly people diagnosed with Hiv/aids, age equal to or greater than 60 years, in monitoring in the Hospital Presidente Vargas in São Luís/MA/Brazil. The data were collected with questionnaire and for the evaluation of the results; we used the titles of programme, presented in absolute and relative frequency tables, as well as estimates of central tendency and dispersion. The research on the field started after approval of the Research Ethics Committee of the Hospital Universitário Presidente Dutra, no. 232/09. Results: the study population showed the age of 60 and 75 years, 63% were single, 61% of the males and 52% black. 100% of seniors know and have used a condom; 61% always use it, but only 52% know how to put it on and remove it. Conclusion: the data make it clear the commitment of sexual practices of the population surveyed.
