- Abstract
Subfraction D2 was chromatographed on a polyamide column eluted with a cyclohexane-acetone mixture and further purified on Sephadex LH-20 and PTLC to afford compounds B 1 b and B 2 b . The ethyl acetate fraction was evaporated to dryness (crude isoflavonoid fraction 20.8 g). This article shows that the hairy root culture of I Astragalus i can not only produce the same isoflavone compounds as the I Astragalus i extract but can also produce isoflavone compounds that the astragalus plant does not have. Subfraction F2 was chromatographed over a silica gel column and eluted with petroleum ether-ethyl acetate and by semipreparative reversed-phase HPLC to afford compound B 5 b .
