- Abstract
Purpose: The aim of the research is to measure the relative technical efficiency levels of public hospitals operating in the Mediterranean Region. Methodology: In the research, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Pabon Lasso Model (PLM) were used to determine the performance of hospitals. Firstly, Data Envelopment Analysis without weight restrictions, then the weighted Data Envelopment Analysis model obtained by Analytical Hierarchy Process was applied. In the last stage, the Pabon Lasso Model was used to determine the bed usage performance. Findings: According to DEA model, 34% of hospitals are technically efficient. According to the DEA performed by considering the weights of the inputs and outputs, 12,8% of the hospitals were found to be efficient at the technical level. According to Pabon Lasso Model (PLM), in terms of bed usage performances, 31,9% of the hospitals are located in the most productive region. Originality: In this study, Data Envelopment Analytical Hierarchy Process (DEAHP) and PLM methods, which are the hybrid method to determine hospital efficiencies, are discussed together. Providing evidencebased information on the performance of hospitals by using hybrid methods presents the originality of the study and it is predicted that it will fill the gap in the literature.
