- Authors
LEÓN BASTOS, CAROLINA
- Abstract
The article analyzes the constitutional reform of 2011 in Mexico and highlights the importance of compliance with international law in the field of human rights. It mentions the participation of various actors in strengthening democracy and the creation of human rights defense organizations. It also addresses Felipe Calderón's administration and human rights violations during the "War on Drugs". Despite the openness to international law, problems still persist in the understanding and effective implementation of human rights in Mexico. The lack of complementarity between the security strategy and social development programs is criticized, as well as the lack of efforts in combating money laundering. The article also mentions international pressure and the need to align Mexican domestic regulations with international human rights standards. The author emphasizes the importance of complying with the guidelines established in the constitutional reform and respecting the protection of human rights in governmental practice.
