The article offers information about teaching direct ophthalmoscopy to undergraduate medical students. It discusses the use of direct ophthalmoscope by experienced physicians as well as issues concerning missed or delayed detection of ophthalmic signs which can lead to harm to patients. Other information related to training in compulsory ophthalmology education is presented.
