- Title
CELLULOID CIRCULATION: THE DUAL TEMPORALITY OF NONFICTION FILM AND ITS PUBLICS.
- Authors
ATKINSON, NATHAN S.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the circulation of nonfiction film among various publics. According to the author, the ability of film to serve simultaneously as a record of a past event and a contemporary performance of the event is a significant factor in its circulation. Particular focus is given to 1946 footage depicting the relocation of the Bikini islanders before a test of atomic weapons on the island and to its use in a 1982 documentary.
