- Title
A RESEARCH BASIS FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION WITH RESPECT TO INTERTERRITORIAL FREIGHT RATES.
- Authors
NELSON, JAMES C.
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses areas which need to be explored more to understand how interterritorial railroad freight-rate discrimination in the U.S. affects the industry and others. It states that effects which can be on distributors can be determined on the basis of logical analysis and assumption. It mentions that data related to the extent to which market preferences for one territory's product have been created by advertising and degree of homogeneity of products of different rate territories need to be collected. It reports that point-to-point rate data for all goods is needed to reveal characteristics of the entire rate structure and data related to transportation cost is needed to know whether varying rates are justifiable under the U.S. Interstate Commerce Act.
