- Authors
Dobbs, Ricky Floyd
- Abstract
The article focuses on the continuity of anti-Catholicism in the U.S. through Texas-based "Baptist Standard" and the coming of the 1960 election. Former Democrat U.S. Representative Sam Rayburn of Texas and Democrat U.S. Senator Lyndon B. Johnson of Texas stated that religion would dominate the campaign if former Democrat U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts received the nomination. It says that the newspaper emphasized the desire of the Catholic hierarchy for power and money.
