- Abstract
The author reflects on the use of sacroiliac (SI) joint magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to diagnose axial spondyloarthritis (SpA). The Assessment of Spondylo-Arthritis International Society classification criteria for axial SpA is discussed as well as the specificity of sacroilities on radiographs to diagnose ankylosing spondylitis. Also explored are the clinical features of axial SpA and the relationship of the axial SpA clinical criteria with the SI joint MRI findings.
