- Abstract
The article "Crisis Scenarios in Extinction Rebellion and the Last Generation" analyzes socio-ecological doomsday scenarios in the climate protest movement, particularly in Extinction Rebellion (XR) and the Last Generation. It emphasizes that the examination of these movements from an apocalyptic perspective is not intended to expose or discredit them, but rather to serve as a hermeneutic key to illuminate certain expressions of the movement. The article notes that apocalyptic perspectives play an important role in the self-perception and external perception of the socio-ecological movement. It points out that research on XR already includes numerous contributions from political science, while there are only initial overview presentations on the Last Generation. The article intends to conduct a systematic content analysis of the apocalyptic interpretive patterns in XR and the Last Generation.
