- Abstract
The article presents information related to William John Watson, a scholar who was born on February 17, 1865 at Kindeace in the parish of Kilmuir Easter in Easter Ross. As reported, he entered the Grammar School of Old Aberdeen in October 1880, and two years later began his studies at Aberdeen University in Aberdeen, Scotland, from which he graduated in 1886. In 1894, he was appointed rector of Inverness Royal Academy, at the early age of twenty-nine and during his tenure in Inverness, he contributed widely to journals, newspapers and reviews. It is also reported that Watson was an all-rounder as a Celticist who represented the various aspects of the chair, Celtic literature, language, education, and archaeology, with equal competence.
