- Title
Computation of excess lifetime cancer risk for environmental exposures: Is it needed? - An opinion.
- Authors
Rao, D. D.
- Abstract
The author argues whether there is a need for computation of excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR) for environmental exposures. He discusses how International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) nominal risk coefficients are computed, the nonexistence of the rate of incidence of the disease for an unexposed radiation population in absolute terms, and the possibility for researchers to desist from computing ELCRs for low-level environmental exposures leading to trivial effective doses.
