- Abstract
The article discusses a study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) which investigated attitudes toward mental illness and treatment. The areas covered by the study include the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 35 states that participated in the 2007 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). The study found that negative attitudes toward mental illness contributed to the delay in treatment and discrimination. A CDC editorial note on the study is also presented.
