- Abstract
The article discusses the life and artwork of artist Maurice Brazil Prendergast who painted the painting "West Church, Boston" displayed on the cover of the issue. "The West Church, Boston" is thought to have been commissioned by the former pastor Cyrus Bartol and dates from 1900-1901. The author notes that Prendergast had prostate disease and circulatory insufficiency and remained frail in his later years. He is believed to be most well known for his vivid color palette.
