- Abstract
This article explores the use of social media and crowdsourcing technologies in crisis and disaster management. It discusses how these technologies are increasingly being used to gather and share information during crises, and how they are addressed in national and international policy agendas. The article also examines the challenges and uses of social media in crisis management, emphasizing the need for inclusive frameworks, policies, and guidelines. It concludes by presenting seven papers that critically examine the role of social media and crowdsourcing in bridging the gap between public and private actors in crisis management. The text highlights the importance of understanding the perspectives and needs of different stakeholders and calls for further research in diverse regions.
