- Abstract
Presents literary criticism of the poem "The Second Nun's Tale" by Geoffrey Chaucer. The author examines themes of free will and choice in the tale and discusses the conversion of and affirmation of Christianity by the characters Valerian and Tiburtius and the martyrdom of the character Cecilia. Other topics addressed include the role of the senses and sensual encounters in the tale, religious belief and miracles in the tale, and the idea of voluntarist choice in the tale.
